Spaces: Selby Archives: Kanai Residence, New York

The Gramercy Park home of graphic designer Kiyoshi Kanai, with his daugher fashion editor Aya Kanai. Easily one of my favorite shoots by Todd Selby. With the help of Selby's signature photographic style, the home has a heartwarming atmosphere and an eloquent modesty, despite some rather incredible works of art and design on display, including a rare and sculptural Hans Wegner valet chair, and a Shiro Kuramata vase.
