The Archive from Sean Dunne on Vimeo.

From Portable Film Festival:

"True dedication is evident in the form of Paul Mawhinney who has given his entire life to amassing what has become the world’s largest record collection. Mawhinney has over a million albums in his possession, including the world’s 1st flat record made in 1881. Due to health issues and a struggling record industry, Paul is being forced to sell his most prized collection. Director Sean Dunne saw an opportunity to tell a larger story by telling the Paul Mawhinney story."

James Franco spoofs his own commercial for last years Gucci campaign.

From the same folks who gave us The Landlord (did anyone else notice the Hans Wegner lounge chair and the Jean Prouve barstools?).

Beautiful work by Dutch photography super-duo of Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, for Vogue Nippon. I recently learned the two met in the late 80's while Inez was studying at Gerrit Rietveld Academie, then becoming partners in both their professional and private lives. The rest, as they say, is history.

See the rest of the shoot at Fashion Gone Rogue.

A beautiful minimalist design I've never seen before. Very nice, I'll be on the hunt.

Old School Hip Hop All Stars

As a young lad, skateboarding the mean city streets, these artists created the anthems of my youth. True hip-hop.... before bling ruined everything.

The tape glitches and VCR prompts add a cool authenticity I think.

The date was May 27, 1994.

This is Apartamento bella Cintra, which features a huge undulating wall of shelves, and a fine mix of contemporary and 20th Century modern furnishings. Works in this collection include lounge chair variations by Jean Prouvé, a daybed by Poul Kjaerholm across from a Gerrit Rietveld chair, an Eero Saarinen/Charles Eames Organic chair, a Sori Yanagi Butterfly stool, an Eero Saarinen Tulip dining table used as a desk, and purple Verner Panton Heart chair sitting beside a pair of contemporary Chair Ones by Konstantin Grcic.

The long row of Sori Yanagi Elephant Stools in lieu of a coffee table is an interesting application.

I've blogged a couple times before about Harry Bertoia's sound sculptures, but now Swiss artists Zimoun and Pe Lang take the concept to new heights, with graphic compositions tempered with an elegantly minimalist approach.

"Waves of buzz have been steadily surrounding all female LA trio Warpaint. And rightly so. They're about to drop their Exquisite Corpse EP on the 10.11.09 via Speak N Spell. The first track "Stars" for example, is a softly spun gem that deals in haze, introspection and yearning and sounds like the tomboy little sister of School Of Seven Bells. "

Directed by Adam Harding and Burke Roberts.

Known as Residence 0804 on the Shelton, Mindel + Associates website, this beautiful space features an informed blend of French and Danish 20th Century furnishings, including a Jean Prouvé Bahut Sideboard, Charlotte Perriand coffee table and stools, Finn Juhl Pelican lounge chairs, a Poul Kjaerholm daybed, Alvar Aalto lounge chairs, barstools by both Jean Prouvé and Harry Bertoia, Poul Henningsen Contrast chandeliers, a pair of Arne Jacobsen Egg lounge chairs, an Eero Saarinen pedestal table, and a rare and majestic Phillip Lloyd Powell table.

This is some beautiful photography, note the shot of the bedroom with the Richard Schultz patio set visible through the sheer window treatment. Very clever.
