Herman Miller in Japan: 1960s - 1970s

This is just a sample of a fascinating online collection of photographs, featuring a variety of Herman Miller furnished interiors in Japan. They are dated from 1967-1975, and I believe were taken by a long time Japanese Herman Miller sales rep. There's even one of Herman Miller founder D.J. DePree.

This is a really great look into the early years of Japan's love affair with Herman Miller design. Works by Eames and Nelson are in abundance. There are some interesting things mods and variations too: the photo of the eiffel chairs at the counter show extra shockmount spacers to tilt the chairs into a more upright seat position; unusual green upholstered Eames stools (on bases normally used on coffee tables); and the Alexander Girard Checkered Eames Rockers with the runners attached backwards (probably by accident).
