A sophisticated blend of 20th Century Art and Design will be offered in Wright's upcoming April 28th auction, Living Contemporary. These are my favorite picks:

A biomorphic lounge chair by Franco Campo and Carlo Graffi.

A double table lamp by Christian Dell.

Sleek 70's stainless steel lounge chairs by Forma Nova.

A red lacquer and gilt dresser by Axel-Einer Hjort.

A watercolor by Marcel Dzama.

An amazing Italian brass and bamboo library ladder.

A pair of leather and steel chairs by Jacques Adnet.

A screenprint by Ryan McGuinness.

A pair of Bird Chairs by Preben Fabricius and Jorgen Kastholm.

An uncut and unpeeled set of 10 stickers by Andy Warhol.

Classic Spaces: Philip Johnson x BassamFellows: Hodgson House: New Canaan, Connecticut

Across the street from Philip Johnson's Glass House, is the private residence he designed in 1951 for Richard Hodgson and his family.  Lovingly restored by Craig Bassam and Scott Bellows of BassamFellows,  and now their new home.  Bassam and Fellows are accomplished Moderinist restorers, their most notable previous project was the Willis N. Mills house also in New Caanan.

"Their own furniture designs harmonize nicely with the pieces that were designed for the house by Johnson’s office and postwar classics by Poul Kjaerholm and Hans Wegner. “There’s a softness to some of the pieces,” Bassam said, “that balances the square sharpness of other pieces.” After almost 60 years, you can no longer call this house cutting edge. But you can call it a classic."

One of the most notable pieces is the Philip Johnson designed burlwood sofa, with a brass table lamp built-into its attached granite side table.

Fresh Finds: Niels Møller, Dino Martens, Hans Eichenberger + More

A fine example of Niels Moller's classic Model 71 chair, featuring a sculptural frame with concave backrest, carved from solid teak; and a soft upholstered seat in beautifully worn original leather.

A superb pair of Mezza Filigrana Murano glass table lamps, attributed to Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso.

Each lamp features a remarkable single form of undulating glass, made from a spiraling composition of alternating white, clear, and aubergine bands. The brass dome-shaped bases echo the glass forms, creating a consistent cadence through the length of the lamps.

A sleek ALPHA side table designed by Hans Eichenberger, featuring a trio of spiraling chromed steel segments, animating this otherwise minimalist design.

An elegant and refined modernist serving tray, featuring smoked mirrored glass and brushed brass. Very chic. Not signed, but origin is likely Italian.
