"This unique coffee table was constructed of existing furniture parts by the Eames office in preparation for a visit by the chairman of IBM in the 1960s."
Wright has just released the full preview for their October 7th auction. Another drool-inducing collection of some of the most amazing modernist design ever created. Of note is the large collection of Eames. It was not that long ago that the Eames market softened, with relatively few pieces selected for inclusion in recent Wright auctions of past. The Eames' has returned with a vengeance, with a multitude of exceptionally rare prototypes and one-offs from the collection of Mithra Neuman.
Here are a few more of my favorite pieces from the auction:
An amazing sculptural credenza by Michael Coffey.
A pair of sleek Paul Tuttle lounge chairs.
An amazing T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings Diphros Okladias stool.
A 70s chic Gabriella Crespi 2-tier coffee table with a movable top tier.
Tom Dixon's Crown Chair in Gilt.
And so much more, click any of the photos to see the full preview.
