Modern Reconstructed - John Booth

. Thursday, September 11, 2008

I discovered John Booth's handcrafted chairs through our friends at The Canadian Design Resource:

These pieces have a great DNA of found hardwood and recycled furniture parts. This process is not completely original but the results here have outstanding features, like each chair being unique (dependent on the found parts), the individual parts having a history, precious woods being repurposed, earth friendly design and more. The final chair forms are gorgeous, beautifully designed, and solidly constructed. This series is ongoing and we will keep adding pieces as they are completed. Head to John’s site, www.bookhou.com to read more and buy.

Beautifully executed, with the example below particularly reminiscent of work of Carlo Mollino.
