Spaces: Michael Haverland: Waterfront House: East Hampton, NY

. Sunday, August 8, 2010

An incredible home by Michael Haverland,  featuring 14 ft high walls of glass and steel, and a facade sheathed in hand-cast textured panels.

"Textured concrete walls articulate the front facades.  Hand cast from computer-generated 20" x 20" foam molds, the panels are made from sand from the site, establishing a contextual connection with nature and the land.  Two dynamic patters, one horizontal and one vertical, weave together to create a complex plaid that captures light and shadow on the curvilinear forms."

The interior features white walls, walnut paneling, and travertine floors. The main living room includes a sunken conversation pit.  The furnishings feature a host of vintage modernism, including a brass Arredoluce Triennale lamp; Adrian Pearsall side tables; Nanna Ditzel lounge chairs; an Isa/Bergamo sling chair; a Hugh Acton bench; a George Nelson platform bench with chest; Erik Buck barstools; a Katavolos, Littel+Kelly Lounge chair; an Eames Aluminum Group Lounge, an Alexander Girard La Fonda Table; a Frank Gehry Wiggle chair; a Yngve Ekström Lamino chair; and Richard Schultz patio furniture.
