Classic Spaces: Richard Neutra: Singleton House

. Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Neutra's 1959 Singleton house, newly renovated and occupied by Ronnie and Vidal Sassoon.

There is so much history inside and out of this home. The garden stones were placed by Isamu Noguchi, the built-in cabinets and platform bed are Neutra originals.  Furnishing the home is a dream collection of 20th Century design and artwork, including lamps by Serge Mouille; coffee table, stools, hanging cabinets and benches by Charlotte Perriand; a daybed, lounge chairs and stools by Jean Prouve; concrete Loop chairs by Willy Guhl; an adjustable chaise lounge by Osvaldo Borsani;  a lucite lounge chair by Erwine and Estelle Laverne; and a dining set by Eero Saarinen.   Artwork includes pieces by Harry Bertoia, Alexander Calder, Anish Kapoor, Étienne Hajdu, Ellsworth Kelly, and Lucio Fontana.

Photography by Todd Eberle, read about the project in an article by James Reginato at AD.
